About
I have taught courses in systematic and historical theology, as well as occasional classes on the interpretation and exegesis of the Old and New Testaments. I currently teach a general introduction to the study of religion, as well as an introduction to Catholic history and thought.
Growing out of my studies in theology and Bible, my area of primary research is "Material Scripture," a field which explores the theological consequences of the Bible as a mass-produced, printed object (see http://materialscripture.blogspot.com for details). My first book on the subject, The Accessorized Bible, is forthcoming from Yale University Press.
I am a board member of the Society for Comparative Research on Iconic and Performative Texts (SCRIPT). I also serve on the board of advisers and am a member of the training faculty for the Society for Scriptural Reasoning's "1000 Cities" project.
